DCJ Delivers Chief Justice's Special Gift
(L-R) : Hon. Justice RIchard Buteera (Deputy Chief Justice) handing over the gift to Hon. Justice Owiny - Dollo (the Chief Justice)

Registrars and Magistrates as members of the lower bench convene annually to discuss issues related to their performance and administration of Justice generally.

While officiating at the opening of this years' Conference, the Chief Justice made it categorically clear that he would defend any judicial officer who executes his/her mandate in accordance with the law and the Judicial oath and would resist any acts that would tantamount to interference with the independence of the Judiciary from any quarter or authority.

In support of the CJ's position, Registrars and Magistrates honored the CJ with a life-size portrait of himself dotted with messages from the Judicial Officers expressing their gratitude to him for his stance on the rule of law and independence of the Judiciary.

The portrait was handed over to the Deputy Chief Justice who officiated at the closing ceremony of the conference officially for presentation to the CJ.

The DCJ officially presented the portrait to the CJ with the inscription, "The lower bench extends its appreciation for your unwavering support for the rule of law and independence of the Judiciary".
